Attorney-CPA Joe Cordell, founder of Cordell Planning Partners, recently appeared on KPLR-11 News to discuss the rapidly rising need for elder law attorneys.
Mr. Cordell explained that with Baby Boomers continuing to age, there is a growing need for legal professional who can assist aging adults with issues related to housing, long-term care, asset protection, and more.
“It’s kind of a demographic tidal wave,” Mr. Cordell said. “You have all these people approaching 60, or just past 60, and they’re all concerned about the same five or six major issues. So they’re looking for a single professional they can turn to to address that entire circle of items.”
It is the mission of Cordell Planning Partners to assist with precisely these sorts of issues.
“Cordell Planning Partners represents this overwhelming interest that people have now as they age in choosing a professional that can advise them about a whole circle of things,” Mr. Cordell said.
Mr. Cordell also offered tips to consider when assembling and elder care team.
“I think people need to first recognize that they do need to find a team of people – two, three, four, five people – that will be central in advising them in these five or six key areas,” he said. “Inevitably, a member of that team has to be either a senior lawyer or elder lawyer and those people will want documents about your financial circumstances.”
